What is the Gen Xe3™
Program?
The
30% of a middle or high school population struggling most with
literacy, the ones most likely to be disengaged in school or
at risk of dropping out, can lead the program. These students are expensive
in terms of both time and money. They can be
certified for both fitness and mentor roles, and apply
for “work” in an ExerLearning
program.
Trained students will share time and talents with
peers, faculty and even the greater community – both via
being mentored and mentoring younger peers, faculty and
employees in the workplace.
Projected
Outcomes - Participating
students will:
- Increase
reading scores by 15% (teacher assessment)
- Increase
engagement in school (pre and post survey)
- Decrease
absences by 20% in 9-week project (school
measures)
- Provide
at least 20 hours mentoring peers (time
schedule)
- Contract
for academic productivity to be accomplished BEFORE the
student can fulfill GenXe3 and Faculty Wellness
roles (contract and teacher assessment)
- Increase
physical activity by 60 minutes per week (time
sheet)
- Become
aware of unique talents and expertise valuable to learning
and relevant to the workplace (pre and post program
survey)
- Create
Service Learning opportunities for grant funding and
valuable lifetime habits
